Nowadays, control criteria in sport dances are not defined, and the estimating of dance couples’ skilllevel in sports competitions has a subjective-comparative character. In connection with this, there is a need to develop and experimentallysubstantiate some informative criteria to control athletes’ physical and technical fitness. The correlation between the technical and physical fitness of young dancers was revealed, which allowed determining the structure of sports training at the stage of preliminary basic training. On the basis of factor analysis, the main factors that determine the skilllevel of dancers aged 7-9 years engaged in sports dances are distinguished.
