Improving the efficiency of plasmid transformation in Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 by removing ClaI restriction site

Abstract

Here we demonstrate that elimination of ClaI restriction site from the sequence of a plasmid DNA increases the efficiency of transformation of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 significantly. To achieve reliable transformation of S. oneidensisMR-1 plasmids either lacking ClaI site or isolated from primary transformants of S. oneidensis should be used.
